The founder of PRES Associates, Mariam holds a Ph.D. in Applied Social Psychology from the Claremont Graduate University. She has over twenty years of work experience in the field of educational research and evaluation. Dr. Azin has been principal investigator on numerous large-scale evaluation efforts related to curriculum and instruction; literacy, math and science; career and technical education; educational technology; professional development; and at-risk learners. She has extensive content expertise in the areas of at-risk learners, educational technology, standards and assessment development, curriculum and instruction, professional development, career and technical education and community programs spanning mental health, substance use and criminal justice. In 2003, Dr. Azin started Planning, Research & Evaluation Services (PRES Associates, Inc), a national research and evaluation firm with offices in Arizona, Maryland, and Wyoming and close affiliations with several major research centers and universities across the United States. The products and services offered through Mazin Education grew out of her experiences in the field with PRES and her prior research experiences.
A former teacher, John has over 20 years of executive leadership in all levels of sales, marketing, and operations. He has served as Senior Vice President, Director of Sales; Vice President of Marketing; Vice President of Global Business Planning; Vice President of Sales Operations; and Vice President National Sales Manager at McGraw-Hill and Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. Mr. McHale is a graduate of James Madison University and has completed graduate studies at the University of Virginia, Virginia Commonwealth University, and New Jersey University. In addition, he has attended numerous American Management Association seminars and conferences to keep current on best practices. He was also selected for and successfully completed the McGraw-Hill General Management Program designed to prepare high potential managers for senior leadership roles in the company.
Laura brings more than 16 years of experience in marketing strategy, planning and execution. She held various marketing roles at McGraw-Hill Education, where she helped to launch innovative online assessment and instructional programs for Glencoe/McGraw-Hill and McGraw-Hill Digital Learning. As the Director of Research and Product Development for NBC Learn, she worked with NBC News and the MIT Education Arcade to develop and monetize educational games and programs built around the NBC News archives. After serving as Vice President of Marketing for Achieve3000, she started her own marketing communications agency, A Different Direction, LLC. She brings deep experience in marketing strategy, lead generation,collateral development, sales team support, social media strategy, and public relations to the Mazin Education team.
Alisha oversees the training and technical support provided as part of the Mazin EnCompass implementation. As part of the Mazin team since its inception/founding, Alisha has played an integral role in the development and implementation of Mazin Encompass, along with the training protocol and related materials. Alisha has worked closely with state education departments and educators from around the nation for the past six years as a senior project manager for various research and evaluation projects under our sister company, PRES Associates. As the senior project manager, Alisha was the lead liaison working with school districts and clients to develop customized training protocols and ensure that training needs were met. She has also been responsible for training teachers and administrators on other Mazin/PRES online systems and providing ongoing support to clients. Previously, Alisha served in both a management and corporate training capacity for The Ritz-Carlton Hotel and business development for the technology and social content pioneer Evolab. She brings years of collaborative, project-based management and system design experience to our team.
